Splashy Mix January 2021

This is the Splashy Mix Moodboard for January 2020:

For this challenge I used a photograph of my friend, Miché and I. In our original vacation plans, we were going to see each other. We already made plans to wear our similar red floral outfits for a picture. But our vacation plans got canceled due to COVID regulations. She still put on her outfit and took a selfie with enough space left open for me next to her. So I also took a picture and photoshopped the two together. She added the floral frame in an app. We have been friends for nine years now and we were both bridesmaids at each other’s weddings. Although we could not physically see each other, this is still a special memory. Thank you, Miché.

I drew my inspiration for the layout from the colors in the moodboard. I used the turquoise polka dots in the background and added some red polka dot paper as well. The quote: “Today I will Create Something New” defines the photograph we ‘created’ on New Year’s Day. I fussy cut flowers, berries and butterflies for the layout and finished the page off with buttons (also from the moodboard). I added the chipboard elements and quotes to capture the preciousness of the photograph and the friendship it represents. For a bit of bling, I mounted the photograph on silver glitter paper and added some diamantés.
