C is for Cosmos CY #88

This is my layout for Challenge YOUrself’s challenge for April 2021: “Alphabet Soup”. All Challenge YOUrself’s challenges are to use photos of yourself. The alphabet challenge was to pick one letter from the alphabet and then use some techniques that start with that letter.

I chose the letter C and included the following in my 12×12” size layout: Cosmos Flowers Photographs, Cosmos Quotes, Cosmos Flowers Pattern Paper, Cutting mat & Craft knife, CD, Circles, Corner Punch, Cardstock (green), Chalk edges and “C-quins”. The photograph was taken on 18 March 2018, on my way to my best friend’s wedding.

At the same time, my 12-year-old sister-in-law, Reinike, made an A4-size layout with a photograph of herself. I took the photograph as an illustration for a children’s book I wrote.

Cosmos Flowers Pattern Paper

I bought the perfect cosmos flower scrapbook paper a while ago on Facebook (second hand). It is Proudly South African paper from Dalro Designs.

Cutting mat & Craft knife

I used the cutting mat and craft knife to cut a frame out of one of the papers.

Cosmos Flowers Photographs / Corner Punch

I cut the corners of the photo around with a corner punch.

CD

We cut circles out of paper and pasted them on old CDs.

Chalk edges

Usually, I use ink on the edges of photos and paper. Here I used decorating chalks.

Circles

I used circle photographs in different sizes.

Cosmos Quotes / Cardstock

There are two quotes about cosmos flowers on the page. The green paper used behind the more square quote is cardstock. The title and the quotes are in my native language, Afrikaans, because it is punny.

“C-quins”

I rounded off the page with sequins.

The alphabet challenge is a very good idea if you want to force yourself to use some new techniques that you do not always use.
